Akkadia

Akkadia was formed in November 2010 in Vancouver Washington, by Thomas Johnston(gtr), and Jay Hollett(bass).

After several months of songwriting and personnel changes as well as band names; Akkadia was chosen as our name as there is so much history to it's meaning and seemed appropriate to how we think.
Our music reflects the many influences of the band in it's compositions and feel as well as how life influences us all.
It is emotive as well as intelligent in design and theoretical composition, yet still fun for the listener to enjoy the many elements off groove and melody.
Thomas Johnston handles all the guitar and also composes some of the music on piano and brings it to the band. Soon we will be adding the piano into the mix which we feel Tiffany will bring to life with her sultry voice and adding even more dimension to our already diversified sound ranging from jazz-groove elements to heavier dropped tuning songs.
Jay Hollett and Thomas Johnston are the chief songwriters with very different backgrounds making for incredible songs for which Tiffany McCroskey can meld her melodious and rich vocal lines with emotive and thought provoking lyrics.
Phil (Agin)Clark seemed the natural drummer for Akkadia as he and Thomas were in a previous band (Flat9) as well as already being familiar with the music and being a fan of Akkadia and long time friend. He left his previous band (Fjord) soon before becoming part of Akkadia.
Phil brings an integral groove to the music while knowing when to be flashy and when to support the song/vocals.
Jay brings the character to the band and keeps everyone in line with his marvelous humor; constantly reminding us that we love what we do and are so fortunate to be able to share the stages we play on with each other as well as the music we create with all those who support and love this band as much as we do.
Tiffany brings the female aspect to the songs with her storytelling and sultry voice, adding much dimension to our sound and our songs.
Thomas, having studied music and arranging etc; from more of a jazz side but with a true rockers heart brings elements of both rock angst with jazz voicing's and song structure coupled with the emotion of a blues guitarist and hybrid scales brings the music to a very unique place. Giving both the listener a great experience as well as the band a unique and wide palette to share our gift's of music.
